Greetings to you on this 50th day, known to the church as Pentecost (from the Greek word for 50), the Feast of Harvest, or Shavout. For those using the tools Jehovah provided in the proper manner, the 50th day arrived just as expected. For those following other means of time keeping, this days arrival might be a surprise. You can find the instruction for Shavout/Pentecost in Leviticus 23:15-21, noting the Lord's instruction. "It shall be a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations" vs21.
This day is special not only because of Jehovah's command, but because of it's benefit. Embedded in the law of firstfruit is the principle of multiplication, the harvest will become as the firstfruit is! Lets follow the timing of Jesus' reserrection till the birth of the church in Acts 2 and see if it maches firstfruits.
Jesus was crucified on passover. Luke 21:1-24:1. Rested in the tomb on the Sabbath. Raised up the first day of the week or "the day after the Sabbath." This matches the time the firstfruit is to be raised up in Lev 23:10-11. By raising Christ on this day, Jehovah guarenteed a harvest of "like Christ" believers from the earth. Acts 2:1 records:"When the day of Pentecost had fully come"and Acts 2:41; that day about 3000 souls were added to the church.  
The Holy Spirit was poured out as part of the Fathers promise. Christ was baptized with The Holy Spirit, Luke 3:21-22. Those expecting the promise would want all of it. How interesting that many Christians believe God's laws don't apply today yet Jehovah and Jesus used one to bring about one of the bibles greatest miracles!
